Situated in the south of the city, this museum takes you on a journey through the history of Hamburg and its surrounding districts by way of the artefacts and traces left by humans since pre-history. The presentation is beautiful: you can look down at the past through glass panels at your feet.
Finds are arranged thematically, based around six large subject areas such as 'food' and 'death', prompting new comparisons between the ages.
