History and Views

Don't miss this opportunity to put Berlin into perspective by climbing up the Flak Tower at Humboldthain Park. The tower's construction came about as a direct order from Hitler to protect the city center from aerial bombardment. It also acted as a bomb shelter for 15,000 civilians. You can easily find this ruin protruding from a mountain of rubble that has been transformed into a lovely park. Grab a snack and hike up to the top. The view is worth it, and the strange cement platforms are a unique place for a picnic!

Utrip Tips

*Directions: From S & U-Bahn station Gesundbrunnen, exit to Humboldthain Park. You will be able to see the large hill and Flak Tower from the train station, just keep following the spiraling pathways upward to the top.
