The DDR Museum concentrates not on the state that was the German Democratic Republic, but on the very real people who lived within it. Interactive exhibits allow you to watch typical DDR programming in a typical living room of the era, take a virtual reality spin in a famed Trabi car, or experience what it was like to be spy and be spied upon in the Stasi security apparatus. The goal of the museum is to be as hands on as possible, to give visitors not just a birds eye view on history but also a seat within it. The unique focus and operation make this museum one of the most rewarding and most visited in Berlin.
