Berlin’s Charlottenburg district isn’t the most happening place in the city (after reunification it’s become somewhat suburban in character), but there are still a few good hangout spots. Most places cater to the wealthy denizens of the neighborhood, so expect to pay a bit more for a night out here. However, a pricier drink here comes with the assurance that no one will accidentally spill theirs on you--not exactly standard for much of Berlin. Most of the action is centered around Savignyplatz and the streets that spoke outward from it. An authentic Irish pub, several nice alehouses, and the Paris Bar (great for classy drinks or a late-night bistro snack) are nearby. Two of Berlin’s most popular jazz clubs, A-Trane and Quasimodo, are great live music options.
