The Musée Français de la Carte à Jouer catalogues the history of playing cards. Established in 1986, it contains almost 6500 playing cards and several thousand etchings, drawings, posters, and other objects relating to card games. There are artistic specialist playing cards and variety of card styles from the Far East and the Western world. Two of the oldest cards are a hang painted Flemish card from 1540 and a tarot card from the 14th century.
