Plumbing Made Potable

Le Musée des Égouts de Paris, or the Paris Sewer Museum, is dedicated to the sewer system of Paris. Tours of the sewage system have been popular since the 1800s and are currently conducted at the sewers. Visitors are able to walk upon raised walkways directly above the sewage itself. You will learn the history of Paris' sewage system, which can be traced back to as early as the beginning of the 13th century. In addition, you will discover the evolution of the City of Lights, the remediation techniques for drinking water today, and its ecological balance.
