Flying Machines and a Foucault Pendulum

The Musée des Arts et Métiers is a museum that holds the collection of the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (National Conservatory of Arts and Industry), which was founded in 1794 as a repository for the preservation of scientific instruments and inventions. In the museum you can find seven areas: Scientific Instruments, Materials, Construction, Communication, Energy, Transport, and Mechanics. Within each area, the routing is done in chronological order. The permanent exhibition offers a journey through the history and current techniques of each field. The museum has over 80,000 objects and 15,000 drawings in its collection, with 40,000 housed at the Paris site. Among its collection is an original version of the Foucault pendulum.
