Hardly a high-profile market, the bucolic Flower Market is shielded from tourists, who flock to the Notre Dame Cathedral, but inside the metal pavilions, the stalls are filled with color and scents. There are hundreds of fresh flowers, as well as a wide array of plants and trees. Over 10,000 pots display primaveras, violets, bilberries, pomegranates, bonzais, and seasonal flora. And on Sundays, the bucolic market turns into something of an urban jungle as the Bird Market (le Marché aux Oiseaux) joins the scene, where rare species and all their accessories can be found.
