Gastronomic History

Ever since the reign of Louis XV, chefs at Le Grand Véfour have been creating gastronomic masterpieces and serving them to the most affluent of Parisians. Walk through the nondescript entrance and you’ll find a restaurant that transcends time: classic Baroque fixtures, elegant murals, and plaques that dedicate certain seats to the restaurant’s famous patrons (Napoleon, Victor Hugo, and Jean-Paul Sartre among them). The prices here are somewhat prohibitive, but the atmosphere is unparalleled and the food phenomenal—artful plates of truffled foie gras ravioli, côte de veau en concotte, and ethereal roasted lobster have garnered the restaurant two Michelin stars.
