Natural Habitat

Located on outermost eastern edge of the city, this park is almost three times larger than New York’s Central Park, and four times larger than Hyde Park in London. Bois de Vincennes, or "Lungs of Paris" is massive expanse of green that offers plenty of space to stroll, bike, picnic, and boat. With four sizable lakes and a diverse zoo, Bois de Vincennes is close enough to the city to be easily accessible yet large enough to really make you feel like you are in the country. Originally a hunting preserve for the kings of France, it became a military exercise area after the French revolution, and was made to a public park and given to the city of Paris by Napoleon III in 1860.
