One of the top attractions in Nice, the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Nicolas is the largest Eastern Orthodox place of worship outside of Russia. The Russian architecture is easily distinguishable from the surrounding buildings, featuring the textbook "onion" dome structure one might expect to see in Moscow. Inside you'll find a goldmine of historical artifacts and icons, much of which was moved to Nice during the Russian Civil War. The Cathedral's goal is to promote the traditions of Eastern Orthodoxy and provide a place of community for its worshipers, while remaining very much a part of the French Riviera.
