A Tranquil Castle

Built between 1557 and 1560, Fort Mont Alban is a rare example of well-preserved mid-sixteenth century military architecture. Located on a hilltop at an elevation of 660 feet above sea level, the fort offers wonderful 360-degree panorama of the surrounding region, with views stretching from the lower Alps, all the way to Nice and out over the sea into the horizon. Unfortunately the fort itself is not open to the public but visitors can still enjoy wonderful views and marvel at the architecture of the fort.
