Modern Art Mecca

There are modern art galleries, and then there's Tate Modern. The fourth member of the Tate family of Museums, Tate Modern—which is housed in a former power station—houses some of of the titans of modern art: Picasso, Mondrian, Dali, Warhol, Monet, and Matisse just to name a few. Whether you're among the most avid of art buffs or you have the aesthetic sense of a toadstool, Tate Modern is a must-do on any London trip plan—and seeing as how it's the most visited art gallery in the world (with over 4.5 million visitors per year), we're probably not alone in thinking that. And, if you're feeling a full day of splendorous art viewing, you can even take the Tate Boat (for a fee), which runs between Tate Britain and Tate Modern, and leaves every 40 minutes during gallery opening times.
