Gimpel Fils is a London art gallery founded by the brothers Peter and Charles Gimpel (nephews of Lord Duveen) on November 26, 1946, in honor of their father, art dealer and collector, René Gimpel. Since 1972, it has been located at 30 Davies Street, in Westminster, just off Grosvenor Square. The first exhibition, ‘Five Centuries of French painting,’ formed a small part of René Gimpel’s collection that he sent to England before the war. The bulk of the collection was lost in Paris, this collection included works by Degas, Monet, and Camille Pissarro.
