The Strahov monastery, founded in 1143, is one of the oldest Premonstratensians monasteries in the world. The monastery has been able to preserve much of its artwork and texts although having to survive many difficulties including a fire that destroyed much of the original wood structures, the Thirty Years’ War, and an overthrow by Communist forces. Today, besides seeing a religious service, visitors can see the Strahov Library and Strahov Picture Gallery which include works that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. Don't forget to visit the brewery where traditional copper vats still brew delicious Czech beer. You can sit outside in the opened courtyard and drink beer and eat traditional Czech food.
*For Beer Lovers, the brewery is a must! Opened daily from 10am-10pm
