Still Swinging!

This foot-bridge, built in 1888, defines Willemstad for many people. In fact, some locals call the bridge "Our Swinging Old Lady".

It's a unique pontoon bridge, resting on the water, crossing right across St Anna Bay, It can be pulled to one side within minutes, when boats need to get through. When the bridge has been pulled over to the side like this, two free ferries immediately start up to take people over until the bridge is back in place. You can sit peacefully in the Iguana Café, sipping a drink, and watch the bridge open and close, knowing it's a unique spectacle, special to this unique place.
