Architecturally Significant Shopping

Penha Punda, built in 1708, is one of Curacao's historic buildings that helped Willemstad earn its UNESCO World Heritage title. The building now houses the Penha flagship store that sells fragrances, cosmetics, and apparel.

If you're not into shopping, the building itself is worth a trip to see, being a fine example of 18th-century Dutch architecture with curved gables, arcades, and rich ornamentation. The Penha building is architecturally significant because it was an example of how the architecture of the area evolved from the traditional Dutch brick style into Curacao baroque architecture in the 18th century.
