Set inside Landhuis Rooi Catootje, an historical plantation house dating back to the early 1800s, the Mongui Maduro Museum fills each room with a colorful display of items that have survived through four generations of a prominent family in this area - the Mongui Maduro family.
Many of the objects on view are of a personal nature, but they provide an interesting look at life during the 19th century. Some of these items were handcrafted, an aspect that enhances their mystique. An intriguing collection of historical documents are also on view at this climate-controlled location, including postcards, menus, periodicals, and calendars.
