Underwater Entryway

Fronting busy and beautiful Caracas Bay, Baya Beach is a popular beach easily reached from Jan Thiel and Willemstad. The sunbathing, swimming, and people-watching are all solid enough, but the beach is probably best known as a top-grade launch pad for snorkeling and diving. There are a lot of underwater attractions within reach of Baya Beach's sands, but none are better known than the Tugboat, a little shallow-water shipwreck—reachable by snorkeler and diver alike—that's turning into its own fish-friendly reef.

Whether you're treating it merely as the foyer for the Tugboat and the coral sculptures offshore, or you're looking to kick back and relax with your toes in the sand, Baya Beach makes a rewarding port of call.

Utrip Tips

*Be sure to pack your food, water, and sunscreen!
*This is a great spot to dive to the tugboat, and if you keep going south, you can check out Kabayé And Small Wall (they're right off the point).
