Pack a Poljana Picnic

When in Croatia, eat like the locals do. The Gundulićeva Poljana Market is a fresh farmers market where you can browse and buy all sorts of regional fruits and veggies, along with fresh bread and cheese and specialty items like locally made lavender oil and powerful grappa brandy. The market is not far from Dubrovnik Cathedral, making it a great place to buy picnic foods in the morning before heading out for an afternoon of Croatian sightseeing.

While you're visiting the market square, be sure to see the statue of Ivan Gundulić. He was the 17th century poet in whose honor the Gundulićeva Poljana market was named.
