Peaceful, Beachfront Hong Kong

Named after Lord Stanley when Hong Kong was ceded to the British in 1842, this district on Hong Kong Island is old-fashioned and relaxing. The Stanley Market offers small shops and food markets, while the Stanley Main Street has many restaurants and bars on the waterfront. Many visitors to Hong Kong consider it to be a nice break from the hustle-and-bustle of downtown HK. If you're in the mood for a little seaside relaxation, Stanley offers two sandy beaches: the Main Beach and St. Stephen's Beach. You can also visit the Ma Hang Park, with pedestrian paths to stroll along and view the theme-planted plants to attract butterflies and other friendly insects.
