Located in the historic Fairmont Hotel, The Bengal Lounge is a colonial style establishment that features an authentic curry buffet. But we recommend that if you're looking for a spot to hole up in for the night, you skip the food and stop by later in the evening for live music every Thursday through Sunday. The warm wood paneling, lighted wall sconces, lots of greenery, period furniture, and an enormous fireplace punctuated by the spotted skin of its namesake make this the kind of place where special and unexpected things happen, especially after a few concoctions from the specialty cocktail menu, which features the best martinis in Victoria. Don't wear your holey jeans and flipflops, though. The dress code is business casual, but the vibe is never business as usual.
