As soon as you walk in the door at Restaurant Matisse, you feel like you should somehow be able to speak French. The pampering of the part of your soul that is French starts with the namesake paintings on the pale yellow walls and extends to the formally-clothed tables, each dotted with a fresh bouquet of flowers. Start with a glass of French wine and maybe some escargot or a soufflé to whet the appetite, then dig in to the modern take on French classics, like rack of lamb, rabbit du jour, or venison noisette. And don't you dare pass up dessert: the bread pudding is a local favorite, but of course, if you're really French deep down inside, you won't want to say no to the chocolate truffles.
