You can't visit Victoria and not spend some time in the wild. Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park is home to conjoined Elk Lake and Beaver Lake, which feature four pristine beaches that offer great swimming, especially for kids. The park features 15 kilometers of walking trails dotted with picnic spots, and the whole park is great for bird watching. You can also go windsurfing or canoeing, or spend some time rowing on Elk Lake, which is the training area for Canada's Olympic Rowing team. In the summer, you can get snacks or a meal at the concession stand and restaurant near the beach at the north end of Elk Lake.
