One of the world's premier wine shindigs, the Vancouver International Wine Festival should be high up on any oenophile's bucket list. For the better part of four decades, this celebration of Pinots, Cabernets, Syrahs, and all the other heavenly vinos of the globe has attracted topnotch vintners, sommeliers, chefs, professional epicureans, and everyday fans of the grape. Every go-round spotlights a different wine region or country, the reliable centerpiece of the party being the hundreds and hundreds of wines available for sampling in the International Festival Tasting Room.
Much of the money raised during this delightfully wine-soaked event goes to a good cause, too: It's a fundraiser for the Bard on the Beach Theatre Company, which throws Vanier Park's annual Shakespeare festival.
