Open Air Art

Vancouver is filled with art and culture but you don't always have to go to a museum to experience it. Vancouver-based artist Marcus Bowcott's innovative sculpture on Quebec Street and Milross Avenue showcases local art right out in the open.

The 33 foot, 25,000 pound Trans Am Totem is a statement on throw-away consumer culture by combining five scrap cars stacked on top of an old growth cedar tree. Bowcott's sculpture seeks to remind Vancouver of its role and responsibility in preserving our planet for future generations. Bowcott dreams of a future devoid of the current car culture which he believes contributes to environmental degradation.
