Originally the building site for what would've been the tallest building in Vancouver, this skyscraper on its side is a great place to kick back and watch the world go by or, in the wintertime, have a skate on an outdoor rink.
Its unique design has won it numerous accolades, even decades after its completion, and its urban cascades make for a welcome respite for anyone looking to rest weary feet while downtown. It's also the site of provincial courts, which the designer took to heart while designing the space. In fact he believed that, instead of having a looming shadow cast over downtown, the design should reflect a government "quietly supporting its people." We have to say, this form follows that function quite well.
