Jimi Hendrix may have died too young but his influence on American rock is undeniable. The Jimi Hendrix Shrine just outside of Gastown pays tribute to this musician's talent and to his early childhood with his grandmother in Vancouver.
The shrine was originally located where his grandmother's fried chicken restaurant once stood in Hogan's Alley. The new location in Gastown still honors Jimi's time in Vancouver as a child with memorabilia and historical artifacts from this cultural icon. Images, family photos, and copies of handwritten notes and even set lists adorn the walls. Admission is free but donations are accepted.
