The Capilano Suspension Bridge has spanned the Capilano River in one form or another since 1889. Beginning as a rope suspension bridge with cedar planks, the bridge is now a concrete-reinforced structure designed to provide spectacular views over the river and surrounding canyon.
There are now a total of seven suspension bridges crossing through the treetops, offering spectacular views from 110 feet above the forest floor and along the cliff precipice over the river.
While the Capilano Suspension Bridge may be the primary destination for many visitors, the surrounding park and trails provide an excellent opportunity to explore the natural scenery and many other attractions in the area from the ground level. There are guided history and nature tours, a story center, and stunning natural park lands to explore too.
