The history of Québec stretches so far back - by North American terms - that this district of the city feels and looks more like it belongs in Europe than it does in North America. In fact, Lower Town has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Access is easy from downtown, either by taxi or bus, but you might want to take the funicular train to get a true feel for the district. Take an afternoon for a walking tour. You'll find art galleries, historic sites (don't neglect to visit the famous church, Notre-Dame des Victoires), art galleries and the Old Port (Vieux Port). When walking along the narrow streets begins to wear on your feet, you'll find many restaurants where you can refresh yourself.
