This beautiful, architecturally interesting district, located just outside the old city walls (thus, the term "faubourg"), has long been known for its artisans, boutiques and specialty stores. The tradition continues to this day; it is where both city residents and visitors go to enjoy the many dozens of shops. If you're looking for something unique, beautiful or rare, the Faubourg Saint-Jean is the place to start. Bookstores (both antiquarian and new), art galleries, music stores offering every genre and form - from CDs to sheet music - and even instrument makers can be found here. The district also boasts many delicatessens, restaurants, cafés, bistros and bars. When traveling to Quebec City, give yourself at least one day to strolling, shopping and enjoying a meal in this beautiful and fascinating area.
