Underground History

This striking archaeological museum is positioned right at the entrance to the original European settlers' stockade, and you can wander underground, among excavations that reveal the foundations lying beneath Montreal's streets, and see the dried up bed of a vanished river.

The upper levels house exhibits on everything Montreal, from pre-history, aboriginal life and European settlement onwards and there's an informative introductory film to see in the upper section, while looking down into the excavations below from the upper levels.
