Montrealers are lucky to have the Laurentians as their playground. Mountains, hills, pretty valleys, lakes and picturesque towns that look as though they could be in Switzerland are right on the doorstep of the city. The railway connecting the town to the mountains is gone, but its path has been made into a 143 mile linear park which you can travel by way of skis, skates, bike or snowmobile at different points and seasons.
An amazing variety of sports and activities, from dog-sledding to golf can be found in the Laurentians. Mont-Tremblant is the commercial and tourist center of the area, with endless restaurants, shops, bars and cafes and a thrilling gondola ride to the top of the mountain.
