What better challenge for a dedicated golfer than playing 18 holes in the mountains of western Alberta? Stewart Creek Golf Course & Country Club offers a well-designed course (rated 4.5 stars by Golf Digest) in the stunning beauty of the eastern range of the Rocky Mountains. As a semi-private club, non-members can play (the course is members-only on Saturdays and Sundays until 10:30am). It is only 100km west of Calgary, on Highway 1, just 3.5 hours southwest of Edmonton and only half an hour east of Banff.
Green fees include the use of a power cart, and golfers are encouraged to use them: The sheer size of the course, plus the wildlife players are likely to see on the fairways - elk, deer, coyotes, black and grizzly bears and the occasional cougar - make it safer for both humans and animals. The club also offers a full-service restaurant, pro shop and three practice areas.
