A glitzy cultural hub, an outdoor mecca, and a bit of a cowboy town, there's quite a bit packed into this metropolis in the Great White North. With a a heap and a half of museums (including Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and the Hangar Flight Museum), theaters, and boutiques in town, you'll find plenty of urban activities to fill your schedule. But with all of that Canadian majesty beckoning you outside, we won't blame you if you want to break out your hiking boots and romp around for a while. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even learn to axe throw—or learn the other Canadian national sport of curling—while you're here.
Calgary also has tons of restaurants, bars, pubs, breweries, and cafes, too. You'll do well to try some Alberta steak while you're in town (food preferences allowing, of course). It's argued to be some of the best meat in the world, and there are plenty of places that will be happy to show—and grill—you their wares. There's also everything from down-home delis to modern tapas places, dim sum, and sushi, so if you're craving something after your big Alberta adventure, there's a good chance Calgary will have just what your stomach's pining for.
