The land is stunning - these glaciers are so massive and so overwhelming that it will give you a new understanding of what the term "geology" really means. Located at the boundary between Banff and Jasper National Parks, the fields cover more than 125 square miles, encompassing some of the largest peaks in the Canadian Rockies, including Mt. Kitchener, Twin Peaks and Mt. Columbia.
You can visit them by driving along the Icefield Parkway from either Lake Louise or Jasper, or buy a ticket on the Brewster Bus Company tour. The Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre offers great exhibitions on the natural history of glaciers in sub-arctic Canada.
