Slave Rebellion Statue

This statue commemorates the leader of a slave rebellion in Barbados. The statue is located at the center of a roundabout and is referred to by many Barbadians as Bussa, the name of a slave who helped inspire a revolt against slavery in Barbados in 1816.

The statue was created in 1985 by Bajan sculptor Karl Broodhagen and symbolizes the 'breaking of chains'.
