Familiarly known as 'the Stav', this is a famous Barbados dive. Don't let familiarity breed contempt though, because this is an advanced dive site. It's not a place where you can afford to muck around.
The Stavronika was a Greek freighter which was burnt out, then scuttled, to make an artificial reef. In its wrecked state it makes for a wonderful dive with plenty of interesting fish, coral, sponges and maybe a sea turtle or two.
The mast is covered with coral and other sea life making a magical picture as you ascend from the depths after exploring the base of the wreck.
