An important chapter in the life of the USA's first President occurred in Barbados. Known now as George Washington House, this historic landmark and specialty museum gives visitors a glimpse into the local history of that time period.
George Washington was 19 years old when he and his ailing brother spent six weeks of their lives in a private residence of the Historic Garrison area. It was the only time Washington would leave America.
The house was rented to them in 1791 before the British Government acquired it as a military garrison. After the military's retreat in 1905, the house became a private residence once more until it was restored as a museum in 2000. Travel through time with tours exploring the architecture and furnishings surrounding this historical period.
