Opened in 1766, this amusement park is one of the oldest in the world and holds one of the main tourist attractions in Vienna, the Giant Ferris Wheel (Riesenrad). The Ferris wheel offers sweeping panoramic views of the city, and impresses as one of the oldest running attractions of its kind. The park offers many other rides as well for all types of thrill-seekers, and traditional Viennese restaurants and shops. Though most of the rides are closed in the off-season from November to mid-March, the Ferris wheel is almost always open, and there is a small Christmas market from mid-November to early January.
