The Church of St. Leopold, also known in Vienna as “Kirche am Steinhof,” is the perfect place to experience the ambience of early 20th century architecture. Kirche am Steinhof was completed in 1907 and was built to honor the patron saint of the city, St Leopold of Vienna. Beautiful Art Nouveau details can be seen in features constructed both inside and outside the church. While visiting St Leopold, be sure to look closely at the distinctive golden dome that gives the land the church is built on the nickname of the “golden lemon.” Also, be sure to check out the skillfully crafted stained glass windows that are scattered throughout the church.
