Feeling Manly?

Among the Sydney area's most celebrated seafronts, Manly Beach got its distinctive name from Captain Arthur Phillip, who found himself inspired by the "confidence and manly behavior" of the region's indigenous residents. The sunbathing is topnotch, and you've got both oceanside and harborside beaches to choose from, which means Manly accommodates everything from surfing, parasailing, and scuba diving to fishing and laid-back dips (there are year-round lifeguards here).

The landward appeal is pretty strong, too, given the strolling and bicycling paths edging the beachfront. And keep an eye peeled for manly behavior!
