It's not a stretch to call Bondi Beach one of the world's better-known seashores, given it's been Sydney's favorite sand-and-surf swath since the 1800s. The perfect crescent of sand--a sunbathing, surfing, and swimming mecca--also lends its name to the adjoining suburb, packed with restaurants, bars, and cafes. (Speaking of names, "Bondi" is an Aboriginal term often translated to "water breaking over rocks.")
