Run by New Zealand chef Ben Shewry (featured in 2015 in the popular Netflix documentary series Chef's Table), Attica has garnered plenty of attention on the global stage--landing, for instance, on the "World's Best Restaurants" list multiple times. Shewry pulls from wide-ranging inspirations--his North Island childhood, indigenous cuisine, forage-able ecologies, etc.--to concoct his spectacular and surprising dishes, which commonly put wild-harvested flavors, from native tree nuts to emu meat, front and center. In Attica, Melbourne claims one of the world's most talked-about restaurants, even as Shewry by all accounts maintains a remarkable modesty--and shows no signs of resting on his laurels.
