Sunken Stunner

Drowned in a mere 25 feet of water column, the Pedernales marks the portion of an oil tanker ravaged by a German U-boat, the rest of the wrecked ship having been salvaged by the U.S. Navy (and ultimately utilized in the Normandy invasion). It's among Aruba's best-known dive sites (and not far from the yet more celebrated Antilla wreck), suitable even for beginners given the shallow depth.

The coral-encrusted tanker remnants--plus the big-mouthed groupers and other fish that hang around them--certainly make for one ghostly underwater destination.
