Within view of the iconic Old Dutch Windmill lies one of Aruba's precious natural refuges: the Bubali Bird Sanctuary. This coastal wetland plays host to a wide variety of resident avifauna and seasonal migrants alike--a paradise for birdwatchers, and really just about anyone with a passing interest in wildlife.
Watch the marsh edges for waders such as egrets and herons and waterfowl such as pied-billed grebes and Caribbean coots; the Bubali thickets, meanwhile, might turn up parakeets, pigeons, warblers, or scrub flycatchers. The sunlit shallows and rippling grasses create gorgeous scenery regardless of what winged wonders are showing their feathers at any given moment.
