Less than 20 miles north of Bueno Aires is an entirely different lifestyle from the city. Located on the Rio Parana delta, where it enters into the Rio de la Plata, this quaint little town began as an agricultural satellite in the early 19th century but has lately become a get-away location for city-dwellers. The charming stilted houses, riverside restaurants and pubs, antique shops and the Puerto de Frutos craft fair also make it a destination for tourists. You can drive, take a bus or train or even go on a river tour. The Naval Museum is located in Tigre, as is the Parque de la Costa amusement park if you want to entertain the children. For adults, there is always the local casino.
