A Story of Revolution and Independence

The long history of Argentina's fight for independence is documented in this small, but well-organized, museum. Officially the Museo Historica Nacional de Argentina, it includes more than 50,000 items, including flags, uniforms, regalia, furnishings and documents related to this period, many of which were donated by the families of the men and women who took part in the events. There are also many paintings depicting the leaders of these movements. The architecture of the museum, originally built in the 1890s, is charming and is well worth a visit on its own merits. The exhibitions, while professionally displayed, are only labeled in Spanish. There are, however, free tours in English available.
