The oldest and largest cemetery in Buenos Aires is a tranquil place to spend time, admiring the architecture and contemplating the history of Argentina. Established in 1822, it has more than six thousand statues, sarcophagi and crypts in every style, from Baroque and neo-gothic to art deco and art nouveau. More than 90 of these tombs are listed as national historical monuments. Open daily; there are maps available at the entrance. Free tours in English are also available every Tuesday and Thursday, beginning at 11:00 am.
